About Me:
I'm a muse in training.

And language is my religion.

I once read that information isn't gold, it's milk. If it's not used, it spoils. So I collect information and turn it into knowledge - that is, something that ends with understanding and action. With this knowledge I connect ideas and people.

Dirt Doesn't Hurt

Dirt Doesn’t Hurt
April 23, 2008
I beat Meg in the dirt department tonight. I realize that might not mean anything to many of you, but those of you who know my little sprite, must realize the importance of this achievement!

Meg is an outside girl. She is a different person entirely when she’s outside. Completely charming and darling. Indoors, well, she’s completely…sprite - a bit mischievious and temperamental. And being such a charming girl while outside, Meg is outside as much as is appropria… Continue

Sun Day

It has been a LONG winter here in Ohio. A long, dismal, overcast, chilly, drizzly, gray winter.

It reminds me of a story I had to read in psychology class way back in undergrad. In the story, children were awaiting a visit from the sun on a futuristic planet where the sun only shone once every 10 years. One particular girl was awaiting it with even more anticipation than the rest because she had moved there from Earth where the sun shone all the time, and as the days stretched long, dark and di… Continue

The Joy of Home Arts

My daughters and I were trapped inside all weekend thanks to the best blizzard we've had in these parts in more than 30 years.

My first thought was terror. I could feel the walls closing in on me the minute I shut the front door (once we made it home safely). How would I survive a weekend of webkins, animated movies, board games that include the word chutes, and recurring discussions of basic bathroom habits and table manners?

As the first evening wore on I began having romantic visions of the… Continue

The Simple Life

Some like the high road, I like the back road
Free from the care and strife ...
Give me simple life.

So sings Etta James.

I used to dream of taking driving trips with my daughters. We'd wake up early on a sunny summer morning, put our minimalistic, but-packed bags in the car, eat a quick breakfast and head off with the windows down, music loud, wind streaming, singing and enjoying the scenery all around the back roads. Free from the care and strife.

Well, it turns out that after the ki… Continue

An alternative smaller worm raising system that can be used by individuals for their own use.
October 24
This is what a small earthworm raising facility looks like. For less than US$ 3000, we can build a facility like this on Christian's farm that with approximately 8 hrs. work per week we could feasibly generate some $ 15,000 in products every 60 da...
