Where to start. We need a Gandhi-like "home spun" movement but with the goal of creating isolated non-polluting power generation systems in every home (but feeding back to the grid where applicable by law). We need a movement, a cause, a fire in our belly to accomplish what the "free market" system has discouraged. Gandhi's "Kadhi" movement woke up a foreign occupying power to injustice and suffering by a simple concept. This will establish a foundation for independence from foreign oil, the electric utility monopolies and allow people to prepare for a future dominated by peak oil and climate change. We can do this.

The history of electric power generation is colorful to say the least. I believe that the first step in this process should be look at the science of electricity and begin from scratch. The electric power generation industry, with only minor alterations in design, has changed very little in 135 years. Monopolies will do that. Charles Brush power his entire estate in 1888 with a wind powered electric generator. http://www.telosnet.com/wind/20th.html

We can do this if we look at what we want and then establish the the system to get there.

Why do so many people have flat-screen TVs but not solar energy systems? Here's why:

I inserted the clip below because it's an interesting take on wind power. However, it stops just short of making a really important point -- "distributed generation," the production of energy on site and then selling the surplus you generate back into the grid, may well be the way energy is generated cost-effectively in the future. More than half of the United States permit "net billing" (that is, selling surplus energy into the grid). Between wind, solar, and hydrogen, the opportunity exists for everyone to be an electricity generator and to turn the grid into our national battery. I would love to hear from anyone who has experience with this.

This is what a small earthworm raising facility looks like. For less than US$ 3000, we can build a facility like this on Christian's farm that with approximately 8 hrs. work per week we could feasibly generate some $ 15,000 in products every 60 da...
